Worthington Schools offers a continuum of services for gifted learners, which includes:

• Enriched Placement Program (EPP) Math (Grades 3-5): a self-contained, single subject (math) course for students identified as gifted in areas of superior cognitive ability and math
• Elementary Reading Cluster (Grades 3-5): service provided within the regular classroom by a general education teacher receiving on-going professional development on meeting the needs of the gifted learner for students identified as gifted in areas of superior cognitive ability and reading
• Accelerated Math (Grades 6-7): two courses that condense 3 years of math (Math 6, Math 7, and Math 8) into 2 years
• Enriched English Language Arts (Grades 6-8): a self-contained, single subject (reading) course for students identified as gifted in areas of superior cognitive ability and reading
• MS Language Arts Cluster (Grades 6-8): service provided within the regular classroom by a general education teacher receiving on-going professional development on meeting the needs of the gifted learner for students identified as gifted in the area of reading
• Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) Courses
• College Credit Plus Courses

The Gifted Services Department will accept referral forms and conduct assessments throughout the 2023-2024 school year. However, if the deadlines listed below are missed for the current school year, all student placements into the gifted programs will be made the next school year.

Elementary Referral deadline (Grades 3-5)

• November 15, 2023 - referral deadline for placement in the 2023 - 2024 school year
• April 1, 2024 - referral deadline to ensure testing prior to the end of the school year and placement for the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year

Middle School Referrals (Grades 6-8)

• November 15, 2023 - referral deadline for placement in the 2023 - 2024 school year
• March 15, 2024 - referral deadline to ensure testing prior to the end of the school year and placement for the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year

Single Subject and Whole Grade Acceleration

• November 3, 2023 - Referral form deadline for second semester acceleration in the 2023-2024 school year
• June 14, 2024 - Referral form deadline for placement for the beginning of the 2024 - 2025 school year

Early Entrance to Kindergarten Acceleration Referrals and Placements

• March 15, 2024 - Early Entrance to Kindergarten referral forms for testing are encouraged to be returned to Gifted Services by March 15, 2024 so testing can be completed by May 1, 2024. This will allow principals to know their kindergarten enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year.

PLEASE NOTE: Should a student qualify for Early Kindergarten and the parent would like to be entered into the All-Day Kindergarten Lottery, applications must be received by JANUARY 31. We can accept early entrance applications up to 60 DAYS prior to the start of the semester.
